Herder Mexico is a renowned publisher and bookstore based in Mexico City, specializing in areas such as philosophy, psychology, social sciences, and languages. Its catalog includes thousands of titles, in addition to offering a wide variety of German courses and educational materials.

The Atenea Tech team was responsible for the complete redesign of its e-commerce platform. We developed a modern, robust, and efficient solution for managing its extensive technical and educational catalog. Its main features are:

Drupal and Drupal Commerce

The new online store was built using the latest versions of Drupal and Drupal Commerce. This provides the client with a highly scalable, secure, and modular enterprise software architecture, ideal for managing a constant flow of transactions and a dynamic inventory with multiple thematic categories.

Complete Migration of Sales and User History from Drupal 7

The biggest logistical challenge of the project was the transfer of information from the previous platform, developed in Drupal 7. Using the Migrate module ecosystem, a secure process was designed to move not only the product catalog, but also customer accounts and their entire transaction history. Thanks to this, users registered on the old website can access the new site and continue to view all their past orders in detail.

Catalog Automation Using Feeds Importers

To simplify the daily administration of the bookstore, we implemented a set of custom importers using the Feeds module. This system allows Herder's editors to easily and efficiently synchronize daily information (product additions, price updates, and stock levels) directly from the publisher's internal management tools, reducing manual errors and optimizing operational times.

Wide Selection of Payment Methods

We've implemented a wide selection of payment methods. These range from in-store payment, available only if the customer chooses to pick up their order in person, to payment gateways like MercadoPago, PayPal, or Stripe.
